Is the anesthetic safe?
Today’s modern anesthetic monitors enable us to observe your cat’s temperature, blood pressure and pulse while under anesthesia allowing us to keep a close eye on your cat while under anesthesia. We give each surgery case a thorough physical exam prior to surgery in order to decide what type of anesthetic is best to administer under the particular circumstance. Also, preanesthetic blood work is highly recommended for cats under the age of 8 and required for cats over 8. These test are similar to and equally as important as those your own physician would run if you were to undergo anesthesia. It is important to understand that pre anesthetic blood work does not guarantee the absence of complications. It may, however, greatly reduce the risk of complications as well as identify medical conditions that are not revealed on a physical exam alone.

What do I need to do to prepare my cat for any procedure that requires anesthesia? 
We recommend no food after 11pm or midnight the night before anesthesia/surgical or dental procedure. Water is ok to leave out even on the morning of surgery. *Please inform us if your cat is a diabetic or has any other underlying health issues as these cases will need special preparations in order to keep them safe during anesthesia.
